Telling stories through composition and poise to enhance the text
As a designer, I view every visual element as part of a broader narrative, whether it’s the typography conveying the message or the images that amplify the story. I believe that images aren’t just decorative—they’re powerful tools for communication, capable of carrying and enhancing the message.
Through my work, I strive to create authentic, engaging visuals that resonate with the audience. In focus groups and usability sessions with high school and graduate students, I frequently heard that students value authenticity in imagery—they find genuine, relatable photos to be trustworthy and can often spot stock images immediately. This insight has reinforced my commitment to capturing images that feel real and unforced.
My goal is to tell stories through my photography by thoughtfully blending composition, poise, and environment. Whether it’s a portrait or an environmental shot, I pay close attention to how each element contributes to the overall narrative, ensuring that the visual is not only compelling but also aligns seamlessly with the text. This fusion of visual storytelling and design helps create a cohesive, powerful experience that draws the audience in and supports the concept behind the message.
