Creating a Unified Pattern Library to Streamline Design and Improve Consistency
As part of the transition to a new platform, I developed a completely new pattern library on a fresh site, fully aligned with UMN and CEHD branding guidelines. I provided both design and technical direction to vendors, ensuring the accurate implementation of components and layouts. I organized the components into logical groups, showcasing varying levels of complexity, and created detailed documentation outlining interactions and different component states. This pattern library helps prevent duplication of effort by ensuring communication leads don’t waste time designing components that already exist—an issue common in large organizations with multiple teams. It also establishes a shared design language across the company for the new platform.
